Dear Corin

BTM Number 104940505

Welcome

March celebrates a year of BTM, so thanks to all of you for making it the success it is. 2009 has continued well for British Tennis with Andy Murray claiming the €1.445m title in Rotterdam with a third successive win over Rafael Nadal.  Congratulations also go to the British 14&U boys’ team who were champions at the Tennis Europe Winter Cup.

The Davis Cup team has also been selected: Ross Hutchins will be joined by Josh Goodall and Chris Eaton, with James Ward and Colin Fleming also in the squad, after Andy had to pull out with a virus. BTM goes behind the scenes to talk to key individuals about the preparation for the Davis Cup.

If you are planning a visit to the Davis Cup, pop along to the BTM stand located by the Ice Rink. Remember your membership card and you can earn an extra 50 TeamCard points for each day you visit.

The Competition Yearbook

The Competition Yearbook has been developed to provide up-to-date information on competition taking place in Great Britain during the summer.  Having all competition listed online, in one place, means that players can quickly and easily find the information they need.  The focus is on competition but there are also features on improving places to play and professionalising the coaching market. It also includes information on how to begin competing so if you have junior members who might want to get involved then let them know.  Click here for more information.

Has a member had an accident whilst at your club?

RSA Care, in partnership with the LTA, can help the injured party free of charge.

What is RSA Care?

·         RSA Care is a scheme launched by the Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance plc who provide 50% of the cover of the LTA’s civil liability insurance protection.

·         RSA Care is an improved way of handling personal injury claims.

·         RSA Care will provide ongoing support and care to the injured party to ensure they can return to health, and work, as soon as possible.

National Family Week

The UK’s first National Family Week will be happening from Monday 25 May – Sunday 31 May. This is a great opportunity for you to attract more family members, arrange family based activities and generate more publicity for your club. Why not encourage families to spend more quality time together and engage in a bit of healthy family competition?!

Family Week Picnic

On Monday 25 May there will be an attempt to set a Guinness World Record for having the World’s Largest Picnic at multiple venues across the UK. Clubs could combine this with a tennis taster day or some light-hearted family tennis competitions. Clubs can run their own picnics and use them as a fundraiser or just as a great day out for all the family. As long as there are more than 25 people picnicking it can be counted towards the record-breaking attempt. So pack your picnic and get down to your local club!

Family Week Sports Day

Saturday 30 May is National Family Week’s designated Sports Day where Healthy Families are the theme of the day. Get the whole family participating with ‘The Tennis Generation Game.’ Whether you play tennis with your parents, children, children of friends or other members of your club, it will be a great way for everyone to interact and have fun, whilst learning from each other. You can access competition resources here

The Giant Sleepover 2009

Generate more publicity for your club by joining in with the global Giant Sleepover 2009. Get your junior members involved in a sleepover at your club for children’s charities including Save the Children and be part of the Guinness World Record breaking attempt.

This year the event will take place over the summer solstice between Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 June. It is estimated that 50,000 children aged between 5 and 16 years old will take part to smash the record.

Register for the Giant Sleepover 2009 online or call 0870 240 1640. It costs £2 per child and group registration starts at £10. All participants who sign up before the 30 April 2009 will receive a Giant Sleepover ‘Goodie Bag’ and Treasure Chest with games, toys and fun things to do on the night.
